What is Pilates?

I am glad you asked! Pilates is a form of low-impact exercise that emphasizes controlled movements to improve flexibility, strength, and body awareness. It was developed in the early 20th century by Joseph Pilates, who originally called it "Contrology." Pilates is suitable for people of all fitness levels and ages. It can be adapted to meet individual needs, whether for rehabilitation, general fitness, or athletic conditioning. The goal is to create a balanced body with strength, flexibility, and a heightened sense of awareness.

 

As Joseph Pilates said, "Pilates is complete coordination of body, mind and spirit."

My Story

Hello, I’m Abby Brumbeloe, and I’m thrilled to welcome you to my website, where I offer a diverse range of Pilates classes tailored to meet your unique needs. With 10 years of Pilates experience and over 20 years of dance training, I bring a deep understanding of movement to each session. I’m currently earning my Pilates certification under Polestar Pilates, a leading authority in the field.

In addition to Pilates, I also teach dance and hold a Bachelor of Fine Arts. My approach to Pilates goes beyond just exercise; it’s about creating a positive and transformative movement experience. My goal is to help you become more mobile in your body, not just stronger.

When I’m not teaching, you’ll find me hiking, enjoying a good cup of coffee, or spending quality time with my husband and daughter. I hope you discover something here that adds meaning and purpose to your journey of movement.
